Statement from Latinos for a Fair Judiciary, She Will Rise on supporting confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson

Groups advocating for diversity on the Supreme Court join forces to amplify importance to communities of color of Jackson confirmation

Washington, DC - Latinos for a Fair Judiciary (LFJ) and She Will Rise stand in solidarity with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson and support her confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. Over the course of her career, Judge Jackson has demonstrated her brilliance, fairness, and fidelity to the Constitution, and is more than qualified to serve as the next justice on the Supreme Court.

LFJ and She Will Rise strongly believe that her confirmation will be a victory for Latino and Black communities, and all underrepresented communities alike, as her track record demonstrates a continued and unwavering commitment to justice for all.

In a time of extreme social and political polarization, we are in need of a justice who will serve and champion people of all backgrounds. Confirming Judge Jackson is an important and necessary step in the fight to diversify our leadership in a way that more accurately reflects our nation.

Just as we championed President Obama’s nomination of Justice Sotomayor as the nation’s first Latina to the Supreme Court—a historical moment for this country—we are committed to supporting Judge Jackson’s confirmation to become the first Black woman to serve on our nation’s highest court. Jointly, LFJ and She Will Rise denounce any attempts by fringe groups to cause division between the Black and Latino communities—two groups that are ultimately fighting for the same outcome: equal and fair representation in the leadership of this country.
